Homeowners Victimized by Contractor’s Consumer Fraud Receive $150,000.00 Settlement

The Law Office of William Wright LLC recently obtained a settlement of $150,000.00 for our client who was damaged as a result of a Home Improvement Contractor’s unlawful practices.  In New Jersey, Home Improvement Contractors are required to abide by statutes and regulations known as the Consumer Fraud Act (N.J.S.A. 56:8-1), Contractor Registration Act (N.J.S.A. 56:8-136) and the Home Improvement Practices Act (N.J.A.C. 13:45A-16.1), which provide for mandatory disclosures to consumers and govern the way contractors must perform their work.
Because the contractors in this case failed to abide by the statutes and regulations, they could have been subject to mandatory triple damages as well as an attorney-fee award.  Mr. Wright’s deep knowledge of New Jersey’s Consumer Fraud Act  and the associated statutes and regulations provided his clients with the negotiating strength and trial readiness required in a case of this magnitude.  Mr. Wright’s clients are very happy with their results, as they received the payment they deserved as a result of the damages they suffered.
